Swim
Magnificent beaches are found along the coasts of Rethymno Greece, both on the northern and the southern side of the prefecture. Rethymno beaches on the northern side are more organized and popular, lined up with hotels, restaurants, cafeterias and water sports centers.
Eat
All restaurants stand out for the delicious local recipes, such as the famous ntakos salad, apaki smoked meat, herbs, pies and more. Accompany your meal with house wine or raki, a strong Cretan drink. Many taverns also have live Cretan music at nights creating a lovely family atmosphere.
Go
Roumeli retains an unhurried, authentic village feel and makes for a quieter alternative to the overcrowded scene immediately east of Rethymno and at nearby Bali. In summer, concerts and other events are held in a carob mill turned cultural centre.
